Finding Our Worth in Christ Alone

By Pastor Jeannette Parrott

We live in a very exciting but dangerous time.

There are endless opportunities to pursue all kinds of avenues of careers, ministries, entrepreneur ventures, etc. The list is endless. There are so many things that offer an opportunity to identify ourselves with. It is indeed an exciting time.

Technology is exploding.

It’s difficult to keep up with the latest invention to make our lives more convenient and simpler. I believe it is also a dangerous time. We must be careful not to get swept away in all the hoopla and excitement and lose who we are or “whose” we are.

I believe it’s important to take advantage of every door that God opens that affords us the opportunity to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ. However, I must remember that I am not the company I work for.

I am not the person I am married to.

Yes, we are one flesh but with distinct personalities and giftings given by God.

I am not the brand that I promote. I am not the image of what someone else thinks I should be or even what I think.

I must remain anchored in who God says that I am. This is a dangerous part of our

society. We cannot be so acclimated to the times that we live in that we are lost in the

fray, in the rat race, trying to keep up with the latest thing.

I am who God says that I am.

I am a child of the king. I am born again. I represent Christ in the earth. He is the anchor of my life. He, indeed is the wheel in the middle of my wheel. He is the reason that life has meaning. I cannot lose sight of that as I pursue all the doors that are constantly opening and closing before me.

If I continue to find my value in Christ, who never changes, who is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Then no matter what happens, if who I work for collapses, if who I’m married to leaves, if the brand I represent folds, my life continues. Because the one who holds my life will never leave or never forsake me, will never leave me in this world to try and make it on my own.
