Fit for the Master’s Use
Shaped by the Hand of God – Fit for the Master’s Use
Broken and Spilled Out
Fit for the Master’s use… how can my brokenness ever bring glory to God? My heart broken in pieces Is my only offering. I have no more to give because all of me is contained in these broken pieces. And yet, somehow, God, the ultimate creator, can take broken pieces and create such a beautiful vessel that, only because it is broken, can be used by Him for his purposes.
None of this makes sense to our rational minds. How can anything broken be usable, we ask? Not only that, He asked us not to fight the process of being broken but to actually “embrace” it. How is that possible?
It is so entirely painful, more than I can seemingly bear. Yet my Master, the one I adore, asks me to trust Him and not fight this process of being broken and spilled out. I, with little understanding but filled with complete confidence in the skill of the Master Potter’s hand, yield to His loving, gentle touch as He slowly, methodically, begins to mold something marvelous out of all my broken pieces. I, with trusting, love-filled eyes, fix my gaze on the Master's face because watching the process is too painful. Fixing my gaze on His loving face fills my heart with the patience I need as I wait for Him to complete the work He has begun.
