Freedom is Different than Bondage

By Pastor Jeannette Parrott

We left off last week, exploring this new land of freedom looking to find all it offers.

Well, freedom is different from bondage. In the land of slavery, we knew our place and knew the rules that excluded us from the people of privilege. We knew not to ask or expect to experience the things of the privileged.

But God heard our cry and delivered us from slavery. He prepared a place for us to live. But here in His Kingdom the rules are different. God richly gives us everything to enjoy (1Timothy 6:17). Here in His land of freedom, it's not just the privileged elite who enjoy the fruit of the land, but we too (former slaves) get to pick the fruit and eat it!

We no longer stand off at a distance and watch as the fruit we labored for is consumed by a people that never sweat one drop for it. No! In this land the fruit is for all to enjoy (former slaves) and privileged alike.

This is so different here in the land of Freedom than from where we once dwelt.

Initially, WHEN we first arrive in this land of liberty, we are afraid to run and laugh and throw off restraint for fear that someone will come along and say "get back in your place" But God says, " This IS your place" I prepared it for you...you are welcome here! You belong here! I purchased this land with my own blood. I paid a high price for this land. I want you to enjoy it. It is for "freedom" that I have set you free! (Galatians 5:1)

Go ahead!  Reach up!  Grab that fruit! Consume it. It's yours!

That's the fruit God promised you, "righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Ghost".

Romans 14:17
